Living Learning English is proud to support Brightseeds Education (formerly BHSU) in their mission to empower Ukrainians through education.
This summer, Living Learning English donated two free places for Ukrainian children to join one-to-one homestay English courses in the UK. The donation formed part of Brightseeds’ Summer Schools Project, which offers residential educational programmes for children displaced by the war in Ukraine.
As the conflict enters its third year, millions of Ukrainian families remain separated and uncertain about the future. Brightseeds, co-founded by Tatiana and Valeria Samborskaya together with LLE’s founder Kate Hargreaves, continues to provide vital educational opportunities for young people adapting to life in the UK.

Building hope through education
The Summer Schools Project gives Ukrainian children the chance to improve their English, build confidence, and experience British culture in a supportive environment. For many, it is their first time feeling settled and safe since leaving home.
“Mykhailo was truly happy living with the teacher’s family. He felt constant support, understanding and genuine interest in his growth and experiences. He especially loved the outings and the cosy home masterclass – he even had a sushi class! The warm and caring atmosphere made him feel completely at home.”

These small moments of normality – laughter around the table, time spent learning together, and a sense of belonging – are what make a lasting difference for children who have been through so much.
A partnership built on shared values

Brightseeds Education began as BHSU in 2022, shortly after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and grew from a partnership between Business Link, a Ukrainian educational agency, and Living Learning English. Together, they have helped hundreds of Ukrainians access education and rebuild their lives through English language learning and academic support.
“We are so grateful to Living Learning English for their generous support,” said Tetiana Katsbert, Project Coordinator at Brightseeds. “Every bit of help like this provides a vital morale boost at a pivotal moment in these children’s development.”
Continuing support for the future

At Living Learning English, we believe that education has the power to change lives. Working with Brightseeds allows us to extend this belief beyond language learning – helping children find hope, confidence, and connection even in the hardest circumstances.
We look forward to continuing our partnership and supporting more Ukrainian students to thrive in the UK and beyond.
